‘WE NEED TO BAGG EVERY WIN TO GO UP’

- BY IAN WINROW

JAMES MORRISON claims West Brom are still capable of winning automatic promotion – but insists they have no margin for error.

Back-to-back wins under caretaker-boss Jimmy Shan have boosted the Baggies’ hopes of a top-two finish.

Shan is expected to step aside this week as the Albion board bring in a new face to succeed the sacked Darren Moore – with former Fulham chief Slavisa Jokanovic and Preston manager Alex Neil the frontrunners for the job.

Morrison said he was shocked by Moore’s axing, but says the players can still close the seven-point gap to second place.

The midfielder said: “If we can win every game now we’ll be up there – that is what it will take. Leeds and Sheffield United would have to drop three games, so we’ve just got to win ours and hope for the best.

“Everyone was shocked. at Darren going. I didn’t see it coming, but the board made a decision and that’s up to them. All we can do is concentrate on what we are doing on the pitch.”

Kyle Edwards (above) was handed his first Albion league start by Shan, and repaid his old youth coach’s faith with a stunning 51st-minute winner.

The 21-year-old beat two Brentford players before flicking the ball home and said: “Watching it back it was better than I thought. I’ll probably watch it back again and show my mum.”

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has seen signs of progress despite back-toback defeats to West Brom and Sheffield United.

He said: “Playing well against teams in the top six shows our potential.”
