CAMPBELL: I’LL KEEP HOTSHOT GROUNDED
FRAIZER CAMPBELL will make sure there’s no chance of record-breaking Jarrod Bowen getting too big for his boots.
Hull’s in-demand striker added to his growing reputation by taking his tally to 21 for the season after scoring for a club-best eighth straight home game.
Bowen (above) turned down a £13million January move to Cardiff – but looks set to grace the Premier League next season, with or without the Tigers.
A late collapse allowed Rangers to snatch a draw to leave Nigel Adkins’ men six points shy of the playoffs after Bowen’s sixth two-goal salvo this season.
But Campbell reckons his 22-year-old team-mate is grounded enough not to let the hype go to his head. The striker said: “Jarrod’s had an exceptional season and it’s not finished for him yet. He’s a pretty levelheaded lad, but I wouldn’t let him get away with any big-time Charlie behaviour.
“I’ll be quick to let him know I’m still the boss around here.
“He’s been a big part of why we’ve proved a lot of people wrong this season. To be still in with a chance of the play-offs is an unbelievable achievement. It’s not out of our reach.”
Late goals from subs Josh Scowen and Tomer Hemed rescued an unlikely draw for Steve McClaren’s side, who climbed eight points above the Championship drop zone.
It helped to lift the mounting pressure on the Loftus Road boss, whose side have won just once in the Championship since Boxing Day.
