HE may have good looks, talent and wealth but Michael Bolton revealed there is one major thing missing in his life – love…

The 66-year-old American singer said he is still looking for someone to spend his life and fortune with.

But Michael admits he has made it difficult for himself to find the right person as he always talks in such glowing terms about his ex Nicolette Sheridan, which leaves possible dates feeling intimidated.

The singer, who has sold 75 million records worldwide, said: “I am a deep, helpless romantic. I don’t think there is any better feeling than being in love. I believe in The Ultimate. Then I get disappointed. But am I being unreasonable in what The Ultimate is?

“My longest love affair, on and off, was almost 18 years with Nicolette. It was powerful. She’s gorgeous and funny but it ran its course. It was a constant attraction.

“I had friends tell me after my autobiography, ‘You’ve made it intimidating for other women if they read it.

“‘Once they read how you described this other woman in your life.’ I didn’t mean to

PLEA Singer today write it that way. My dream woman would have to be honest, and humour is a really important quality.

“I have been set up on blind dates. Some were nice. I don’t think I had any miserable blind dates. You’re having dinner, you are basically continuing your interviewing process.

“I am good at being single, but there is room for a partner.”

Michael married Maureen McGuire and they have three adult daughters: Isa, Holly, and Taryn. The couple divorced in 1990.

His on-off relationship with Nicolette lasted from 1992 until 2008.

To correspond with a new album, Radio 2 will this Friday celebrate Michael’s 50 years in the entertainment industry by broadcasting a concert at the London Palladium where he performs with an orchestra.

In the UK he has 14 top 40 albums which have spent 179 weeks in the charts and he won six American Music Awards and two Grammies. Michael said he plans to tour this year, taking in “North America, South America, Europe, Eastern Europe, a bit of Africa and Mozambique”.
