Family, friends & fans’ fitting send-off for ‘true punk’ Flint
Fans raise a glass to their idol Keith RAISING the roof for him one last time, fans helped ensure a fitting send-off for The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint yesterday.
Music blasted out as over 1,000 mourners from around the world packed the procession route for the Firestarter vocalist’s funeral.
Bandmates Liam Howlett and Maxim were at the ceremony in Bocking, Essex, where Keith’s horse-drawn hearse was met by applause from an emotional crowd, led by widow Mayumi Kai.
Comedian Paul Kaye said in a eulogy: “Extremes were what drove him and gave him the passion and SOMBRE Keith’s coffin is carried into the church energy to be who he was. He was a true punk.” Singer Nicole Appleton was among other celebs there yesterday.
Flint was found dead at his home in Essex this month, having taken his own life aged 49.
His band urged fans to “raise the roof for Keef” in the funeral procession from nearby Braintree.
And they did just that, dancing on into the night.
One, chef Araks Azarian, 36, from Sydney, Australia, said: “He was the nicest person. Nicholas Read, 48, said he dropped his trousers in front of a 2p falls machine in Ingoldmells, Lincs, because he was so drunk he thought it was a urinal.
Lincoln magistrates gave Read, of Cheadle, Staffs, a community order and a curfew, and made him pay £170 for outraging public decency. In 2011, he was found guilty of flashing a girl aged 17 on a train.
