If you were foolish or unfortunate enough to have missed last night’s series five opener, allow me to fill you in.

Following a staged RTC, ED-905 was hijacked by an armed UCG containing a UCO.

During the hijack three AFOs were killed and a fourth left for dead. This led to an investigation by AC-12, which immediately triggered a MOPI flag warning.

If you were coming to Line of Duty for the first time thanks to the BBC’s “From The Makers Of Bodyguard” trailers, you Maneet in TV attack ordeal SHOCKED Line Of Duty fans saw Maya Sondhi’s character left for dead last night – after a boozy wish was granted.

The actor admitted the violent scenes that nobody saw coming were her own fault.

Maya, 36, who plays “paperpushing” office worker WPC Maneet Bindra, said they stemmed from her drunkenly pleading with show creator Jed Mercurio at an awards bash to make “something really dramatic” happen to her.

So Jed came up with a plot that saw Maneet uncovered by police unit AC-12 as an informer to an organised crime group. Up to eight million viewers were left open-mouthed as she was kidnapped, gagged and knifed.

Things went horribly wrong for Maneet after she was found with a bugged mobile – leading to the horrific attack.

She was last seen dumped near a canal by members of the Balaclava Gang, with blood pouring from her slashed neck. Birmingham-born mum-ofone Maya, who first

appeared as Maneet THE PLOT THICKENS Creator Jed and Maya In normal office role in 2016, said: “The moral of the story is, never get drunk with Jed and suggest something.”

The Citizen Khan star added: “When he rang me to talk about storylines I was up for doing something you wouldn’t expect from Maneet, because she is just basically paper-pushing in the background.”

Maya, a scriptwriter herself who has penned several episodes of EastEnders, warned viewers not to assume Maneet is now definitely dead, adding: “You never know with Jed.”

Last night’s episode saw Stephen Graham make his debut as a cop turned gang leader.

Line of Duty continues next Sunday at 9pm on BBC1.
