TRAGEDY William & Kathryn A COUPLE with a passion for classic cars died after being overcome by carbon monoxide in a giant plastic bag they used to store one.

William Reid, 67, and Kathryn Workman, 70, lost their lives after he reversed a Mercedes into the cover.

Kathryn dashed to his aid, and was also poisoned by the fumes at their home in High Seaton, Cumbria.

She crawled out and called 999 before going back in to try to rescue him the inquest in Cockermouth heard.

Coroner Simon Ward praised the paramedics’ “heroic” efforts in carrying Kathryn out so she could be treated. She died two days later in hospital.

He concluded that Mr Reid’s death was an accident and Mrs Workman’s misadventure.

Prince Andrew fuelled speculation of a reunion by inviting ex Sarah Ferguson on a trip he was making to Bahrain on official business.

The pair, who were at daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October, have stayed good friends since they split in 1992 and divorced in 1996. And friends suggest Eugenie’s big day helped draw them closer.

One royal source said: “Andrew and Sarah are virtually inseparable nowadays. They are loving spending time together and really do feel a corner has been turned in recent months after all the positivity from Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

“They are the closest divorced couple you could ever come across. Who knows what the future holds.”

Andrew and Sarah were joined in Bahrain by daughter Princess Beatrice, 30, and her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and enjoyed a VIP day out at the Grand Prix A major barrier to the pair, both 59, getting back together is Prince Philip’s unwillingness to forgive Fergie for being snapped having her feet kissed by financial adviser John Bryan on a break in France.

But Andrew is fiercely loyal and the pair live together at his official residence, Royal Lodge at Windsor.

A Palace source said: “While they are not officially back together, it is fair to say their relationship is incredibly strong. They are not involved in relationships with anyone else, which is likely to fuel rumours of an unlikely reunion.”

Fergie’s spokesman said: “Nothing has changed in their relationship.”

Buckingham Palace said the Duke was in Bahrain on “a working visit” and the family group joined him after official business had ended. ROYAL SOURCE ON THE PAIR REKINDLING ROMANCE
