VIOLENT McDowell as Alex CLOCKWORK Orange star Malcolm McDowell says Stanley Kubrick made him view horrific movies daily for nine months.

McDowell, 75, who played ultra-violent Alex in the 1971 film, said: “They were the most horrendous films: concentration camps, bodies stacked up.”

In the film Alex is forced to watch violent footage with his eyes clamped open to rehabilitate him.

McDowell said lid locks on his eyes kept sliding off in filming and ended up “scratching” his cornea. Police picture of shamed ex-player Johnson PAEDOPHILE Adam Johnson has finally publicly apologised – over four years after his sex offences against a schoolgirl.

The disgraced former Sunderland, Manchester City and England footballer, 31, said in a statement yesterday he “deeply regretted” his actions.

It came 11 days after he was released on licence from a six-year sentence for sexual activity with the fan who was 15 at the time of his arrest in March 2015.

She told of the hell she endured after being forced to go through a trial when Johnson denied his crimes.

It is believed the dad-ofone, who kept fit in the gym at Doncaster’s Moorland jail, is keen to return to football.

But Sunderland fan John Johnson, 67, a campaigner for victims since his son, Kevin, was fatally stabbed in 2007, said: “I don’t think any club will take him.”

The player’s statement said: “I am very sorry for the effect my conduct had on those directly and indirectly involved. It should never have happened and I deeply regret what I did.” Seen near home in Castle Eden, Co Durham, last week
