OLD BOYS RAM SORRY RHINOS

- ON THE CHARGE

LEEDS’ old boys Danny McGuire and Mitch Garbutt kept their former paymasters rock bottom of Super League.

Only battering centre Konrad Hurrell’s brilliant four-try salvo saved the one-time Grand Final kings from a more embarrassing defeat.

Seven-time Old Trafford winner McGuire and Aussie forward Garbutt scored two of seven tries for Tim Sheens’ Robins.

But the Rhinos have won only two of their 10 games and are in a major fight to save their topflight status.

Sheens’ side led inside four minutes as hooker Tommy Lee scooted over from close range.

Despite a response from Hurrell, two tries in six minutes underlined Rovers’ dominance, as Garbutt bulldozed over before Hall’s pass gave Junior Vaivai a run to the corner.

Leeds produced a better display in the second half and though they cut the deficit to nine points, a Josh Drinkwater touchdown put the result beyond doubt.

Promoted London have pulled off shock wins over Wakefield and Wigan at home, as well as a late win at Leeds.

Warrington winger Lineham (right) said: “Some teams have under-estimated them so we will treat them with the utmost respect.”

7.45pm ADRIAN LAM has vowed not to let problems off the pitch rock Wigan at Castleford tonight.

Prop Gabe Hamlin has been charged with a doping violation, while Shaun Edwards looks certain to back out of his agreement to coach the

club. But interim boss Lam believes the team, who had docked points returned, will stay strong.

“It’s not ideal but you make sure you handle it correctly,” he said. ”The focus is on making it three wins in a row.” Zak Hardaker makes his first return to the Tigers since they sacked him for cocaine use in 2017.
