We’ve come so Farke in such a short space of time

ASHTON’S TRIBUTE TO DIFFERENCE NORWICH BOSS DANIEL HAS MADE

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

NORWICH legend Dean Ashton has hailed manager Daniel Farke for creating something special at Carrow Road.

The Canaries, led by top scorer Teemu Pukki (right), need just a point to confirm their return to the Premier League after three years in the Championship and four points to be promoted as champions.

But even if they were to lose their last two games of the season – against Blackburn this afternoon and Aston Villa on Sunday week – then they could still go up by holding off Leeds on goal difference.

Marcelo Bielsa and his men need to win their remaining two games and overhaul a difference of 10 goals in Norwich’s favour, making it almost unthinkable that Ashton’s old side won’t be a topflight team again next season.

The former striker (left), 35, reckons Farke deserves all the credit he gets after transforming the club less than two years since his arrival in May 2017.

He said: “Probably like most people, we were intrigued when Farke took over and seeing the way he played, it was starting to get a little boring to be honest.

“But then suddenly the turnaround from the start of the season was quite incredible.

“Everyone has kind of bought into it and gone with it.

“I live in Norwich and you can sense what’s happened to the football club and how that has taken the fans along with them.

“They have created something special.

“The support they have had this year and the style of football as well… some supporters are saying it’s the best style of football they have ever seen, which says a lot. “Over the last 10, 20 years with Norwich, they have been a yo-yo club and they haven’t necessarily had an identity, but this time it does feel different. “I’ve seen a lot of them this season and the style of football has been superb.

“It does feel a bit more special than previous times.”
