Don’t waste your votes on Farage

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

■ It never ceases to amaze me how people still can’t see through Nigel Farage. Man of the people?

What a joke! As Brian Reade highlighted in his column (April 27), this ex-public schoolboy and stockbroker is very much part of the elite.

Then to accuse the major parties of backtracking on the referendum result is nonsense.

What I see is the majority of Labour MPs respecting the referendum result, but doing their utmost to ensure we protect our economy and jobs. Remember it won’t be the elite who suffer, or Mr Farage, if we get a bad Brexit deal. Theresa Butler, St Helens Merseyside

■ I wonder how many people like me were splitting their sides with laughter at the comment by Ann Widdecombe that Nigel Farage is the greatest politician since Margaret Thatcher. Would this be the same Farage who made seven attempts to become an MP and the one who, along with Boris Johnson, is to blame for the mess this country is in over Brexit? And the same Farage who still collects his £90,000 salary from the EU despite telling us all they are corrupt and we need to leave? M Streets, Chesterfield Derbys

■ Anyone contemplating changing their vote in the Euro elections to support Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is wasting a vote. This man is a Europhobe yet has a comfortable and luxurious li festy le provided p by the European political system. He makes his policies on the hoof to curry favour for his party and he has always been against the NHS. He’s a self-serving politician who looks after his own interests without a passing thought for the rest of the hard-working struggling people in Britain. Neil Atherton, St Helens Merseyside

■ The trouble is a lot of gullible people out there don’t see Farage for the snake oil salesman he is. It ’s no surprise that he’s chosen this moment to launch his Brexit Party with the Tories a sinking ship and Labour needing a much stronger leader. I urge all grafters to vote for the people’s party, ie Labour, at the local and European elections as it’s the only way to improve your lives. R Fry, Thetford, Norfolk

■ What Brian Reade wrote was nonsense. Nigel Farage is just what our country needs at present and Ann Widdecombe offers most welcome support. We all know our Government is a disgrace and because of them we have lost democracy. Nigel and Ann are going to put the Great back into Britain and restore democracy. J Wilkes, Droitwich, Worcs

■ Farage is an ex-banker who is exploiting people’s fears while promoting Brexit at any cost for an America First trade deal with his mate Trump. No thank you! Steven Garland, Sleaford Lincs

■ My message to Nigel Farage is that we Labour voters all think your Brexit party is one big, fat short-lived joke. Debra Glendinning Ryton Tyne & Wear
