JONES NAMED THE NEW TOP HATT

Even Moyes is sticking the boot into under-performing United saying: You’ve gone nowhere since I left the club

DAVID MOYES has stuck the boot in Manchester United by insisting they have made no progress since he was sacked in 2014.

The Scot was hailed ‘The Chosen One’ after being appointed Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Old Trafford.

Fergie hand-picked him, but Moyes endured a miserable time as United boss and lasted just 10 months before being sacked.

Moyes (below) was furious with United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward at the way his sacking was revealed before he was told.

The Scot, who is still receiving compensation from United, said: “Since I took over to where they are just now, I don’t think there’s an awful lot of difference.

“When I took over it was needing a change and a turnaround of players and that was going to take time.

“In the four years or so since I was managing there, it’s CHAMPIONSHIP new boys Luton have named former Everton and Belgium No.2 Graeme Jones as boss for next season.

Jones, 49, (right) has agreed a three-year deal at Kenilworth Road and will start work next week.

He replaces Mick Harford, who probably not moved on much more. It’s quite similar. They’re still saying there need to be changes and things have to be done. That time since I left hasn’t been used awfully well.” Since he left, United have had three more permanent managers – Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They have spent almost £600million on new signings in that time, without challenging for the biggest trophies. United have won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League, but remain miles off the pace in the Premier League and Champions League.

Solskjaer faces a losing battle to secure a top-four finish and has a huge rebuilding job in the summer.

But failing to qualify for the Champions League will damage the Norwegian’s hopes of landing his main targets. Questions are also being asked about Woodward’s ability in the tricky world of player transfers. will step down at the end of the season. Hatters CEO Gary Sweet said: “We’ve been extremely fortunate to have Mick see the job through with our coaching staff. They have done a great job – with Graeme working in the background without interference.”
