The Sheffield United boss (left) is relishing his first campaign in the top flight next term – 18 years after he began his managerial career with Alfreton in the Northern Counties East League.

Wilder, who looks up to countrymen and establishe­d Premier League managers Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche, said: “This is obviously the pinnacle of my career and, hopefully, it’s a little bit of inspiratio­n to the likes of me 15 years ago.

“There are certainly enough quality English coaches and managers around, who maybe get overlooked. I take my inspiratio­n from the likes of Eddie and Sean and, hopefully, I’m a little bit of one for other English coaches, who want to work hard and try and achieve the dream.”

Wilder, 51, and his players have partied since winning promotion and there was a definite hangover to their poor first-half display.
