ATTACK Gaza City burns DEADLY violence on the border of Israel and the Gaza Strip has petered out after Egypt and the United Nations reportedly mediated a ceasefire yesterday.

Twenty- one Palestinians, more than half of them civilians, and four Israelis have been killed in three days of clashes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said air strikes hit “over 350 targets” belonging to militants and the military said 600 rockets had been fired at southern Israel from Gaza since Friday.

Violence ceased before dawn, just as Gazans were preparing to begin the holy month of Ramadan.

But Mr Netanyahu warned: “We struck with great force. We are preparing to continue. The goal [is] ensuring quiet and security for residents.” TV’S Katie Piper says explaining her acid-attack scars to her curious five-yearold daughter has resulted in some “almost funny” moments.

Katie – whose ex-boyfriend arranged for a thug to throw the corrosive liquid in her face in 2008 – has told Belle she was “burnt”.

And she is encouraging her daughter to speak openly about her reaction to the scars.

The 2018 Strictly star, who was blinded in one eye and put in an induced coma for 12 days after the horrific assault, said: “Me and my daughter have a lot of open conversations.

“My eldest is quite funny. She knows what happened. She’ll say, ‘ Why do you have lumps and wrinkles round your eyes?’ I’ll say, ‘It’s skin graft – where I got burnt, and I’m ageing.

“She’ll say, ‘Oh, it looks awful. I hope I don’t get burnt.’ It’s almost funny.

“I’ll say, ‘ That can be quite hurtful for some people.’ And she’ll say, ‘But it’s true Mum – I would not want my eyes like that.’

“She’s seeing something and feels she can openly discuss it with me, and that’s positive.”

Katie, 35, explained at a Women’s Health Live event in London she encourages her daughter to see her scars as part of who she is. She said: “I say to her, ‘ What are the things you like about Having a laugh

CONVERSATIONS Katie & daughter Belle me? Because If I didn’t have this I wouldn’t be me and I wouldn’t have all the things you like about me.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh... OK.”

“We have that open discussion so that when she does see someone in public with a disability, she’s informed and she understands.”

Ex-model Katie runs a foundation for scarring victims. She and husband Richard Sutton have two children, Belle and 18-month-old Penelope.
