1D star camps it up at New York spectacular
diamante-encrusted window as the biggest names in fashion, film and music competed to put on the most outrageous camptastic display.
Lady Gaga was a pop star reborn, arriving in a billowing pink Brandon Maxwell gown which literally stripped down into four different looks, ending with just bra and pants.
I don’t know about camp, but it looked like she might catch her death.
Meanwhile Katy Perry decided to come as one of Liberace’s lampshades. I’m sure it lit up the whole party and brought a touch of glass to proceedings, but all I could think of was that classic scene in Only Fools and Horses when Del and Rodney had a smashing time with a chandelier. Kardashian LOOKS like Harry Styles could be auditioning for a girl band in this outfit… The One Direction star certainly took the theme of this year’s Met Gala – Camp: Notes on Fashion – seriously as he arrived in high heels, a sheer-black Gucci jumpsuit while wearing nail varnish and a pearl earring. Mind you, even 25-year-old Harry’s glam gear was put in the shade by Lady Gaga’s billowing pink dress that seemed to cover an entire staircase.
His number was three months in the planning. Harry’s long-time fashion mastermind Harry Lambert said: “The look, I feel, is elegant. It’s camp but still Harry.”
But not everyone was enamoured by the singer’s clobber at the annual
New York event. One fan tweeted: “Why is Harry wearing a granny earring?” While he stuck to one outfit for the evening,
Lady Gaga decided on four. The singer and actress, who was accompanied by dancers with umbrellas, dropped the pink number for a black dress, then appeared in a long, straight one, dispensed with that and paraded in Cardi B’s billowing dress. Inset, Ezra’s eyes have it her underwear. Gaga, 33, was co-chair of Monday’s event with Harry and tennis ace Serena Williams. Kim Kardashian, never one to disappoint on the outrageous costumes front, wore a nude-illusion Mugler dress that appeared to have beads of sweat coming off it.
Singer Katy Perry went as a chandelier and changed into a hamburger outfit. US rapper Cardi B wore a scarlet gown decorated with 30,000 hand-embroidered feathers. Actor Ezra Miller had several eyes drawn on his face, while Kate Moss appeared in a silver dress. Many have said the night is beginning to lose appeal due to its whacky themes. But with Harry looking pretty in his outfit, he’s not losing his… Harry in his number Kate Moss
