TREVOR BAYLISS has warned Joe Denly his World Cup spot is not guaranteed.

There are already 17 players battling it out for the final 15 spots, but Bayliss has thrown Liam Dawson’s name back into the mix despite him not being currently involved.

Jofra Archer is the main stalking horse across the fast bowling ranks with someone set to miss out to accommodate him, and Denly is under pressure after watching his first two balls in the T20 go for six. Left-arm spinning all-rounder Dawson has been starring for Hampshire in the Royal London Cup and was almost called up to the squad at the Oval due to Moeen Ali’s minor cracked rib.

But England coach Bayliss will put faith in the all-round abilities of Denly.

“Moeen copped one in the ribs in the IPL,” said Bayliss. “Joe’s probably the other position we’ll discuss. Someone like Dawson will be in discussions. It’s probably down to that 18 for the World Cup. The final 15 would come from that.”
