THE fiance of a London Bridge terror attack victim begged an onlooker to stop filming her as she died, a witness has told an inquest.

Bus driver Anton Sobanski broke down in tears as he recalled seeing Christine Archibald, 30, lying in the road after being hit by the terrorists’ van.

He said her fiance, Tyler Ferguson, asked a man to stop recording her final moments, as he desperately tried to save her life. Mr Sobanski said he returned to his bus after the attack and found passengers sheltering upstairs.

He said: “A man upstairs near the back was trying to film where Christine was. I do remember a man, Tyler, said, ‘Stop filming’.” Mr Sobanski was giving evidence yesterday at the Old Bailey inquest into the attack on June 3, 2017.

He told the hearing: “I was shocked there were no barriers on London Bridge. I always felt London Bridge was vulnerable to an attack.”

Social worker Ms Archibald was a Canadian who lived in the Netherlands with Mr Ferguson. She was on a trip to London to visit her fiance, who was working in the UK. They were walking over the bridge when she was run over. Earlier, Mr Ferguson told the inquest that, just before the attack, “Chrissy stopped out of nowhere, grabbed me close to give me a kiss after telling me how much she loved me.”

He said he later heard a “loud thud”, adding: “I then looked for Chrissy. She was no longer next to me. I realised she had been hit by the van. I remember looking down at her mangled body as she convulsed and released the physical life from her body. I knew in this moment she was dead.” CCTV footage played in court, described as “graphic and distressing”, showed Christine being killed. Eight people were murdered by three attackers, who police shot dead. The inquest goes on.
