NUNO HAPPY TO BE PARTY POOPER NOW

Reds still in hunt for the two biggest trophies but Klopp says: It’s not about silverware, it’s about restoring the legend of Liverpool

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO admits he’d love to spoil the atmosphere at Anfield tomorrow.

The Wolves boss (above) says he cheered on Liverpool’s incredible Champions League turnaround in midweek but has no intention of entering the party spirit for the final game of the Premier League season.

There might well be four English sides in the big European finals – but Nuno’s rampant Wolves have beaten the lot of them this season – spearheaded by 17-goal top-scorer Raul Jimenez (right).

He says his men know that Liverpool could still be crowned Premier League champions but don’t give a damn.

Nuno said: “The players are aware of the game and they want to compete just as they always do.

“We don’t think about other things.

“We prepare ourselves in exactly the same way as we always do.

“There is no exception. There was no game that we didn’t prepare the same way with the same details and the same approach. So we’re not going to change in the last game of the season.

“What happens on the pitch is what you can control, anything outside of that you can’t.

“Of course it’s a big, big game and we want to play it – we are ready.”

Nuno was transfixed watching the European dramas unfold, adding: “The Champions League this season was amazing. When you watch a game on TV you don’t watch it as a manager, you watch it as a fan of the game.

“Liverpool v Barcelona and Ajax v Tottenham were fantastic games. Who doesn’t enjoy that? They were amazing.”

He will have a ringside seat to see if Liverpool’s incredible league season will see them pipped at the post by a Manchester City win at Brighton. Nuno added: “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen what I’m seeing now.

“It is amazing for the competition that two teams so good go to the final day competing for the title.

“What both teams have done is amazing and everybody should congratulate them.”

Wolves have notched wins against all four of the Euro finalists but Nuno refuses to attach special significance to the feat.

He said: “It shows we competed well and it shows a lot about the improvement of the team. But it meant the same as a win against Cardiff at a tough time.”
