Nail bomber injures 12 in Lyon attack

HORROR Scene of blast AT least a dozen people were injured in a bombing in Lyon yesterday.

A device packed with nails and screws was left outside a bakery in the French city.

A manhunt was under way to find the bomber, suspected to have been on a bicycle when he planted the device two minutes before it detonated.

President Emmanuel Macron called the blast an “attack” and anti-terror police based in Paris are leading the probe.

An eight-year-old girl was among the injured and none were thought to have life-threatenin­g wounds.

A hotel owner said he saw “metal plates on the floor”. He added: “We saw a very panicked woman and a man with a bleeding leg taking refuge in a clothing business.” WITH hundreds of jobs in his collapsing empire threatened, Topshop boss Philip Green was last night said to be planning a party on his yacht near Monaco.

News of the bash to celebrate tomorrow’s Grand Prix emerged after parent company Arcadia revealed the tycoon had not been near its London HQ “for nearly a year”.

Sources say Green has not been in the UK for at least six months, although it is understood he has been working from abroad. It follows new allegation­s that Green, 67, had slapped women workers’ bottoms.

Earlier this week Arcadia announced plans to close 23 Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Topshop stores, putting 520 jobs under threat.

Rents at 194 other stores will be cut and all 11 Topman and Topshop outlets in the US are set to close.

The pensions regulator does not believe the move will “adequately protect” workers pensions and yesterday Labour MP Frank Field called on Sir Philip to use his own cash to pay them out.

Mr Field, who heads the Work and Pension Committee, told The Mirror: “Clearly he has time for a lavish party on a lavish yacht. He ought to make a lavish contributi­on to make up the mega pension deficit.”

Shopworker­s’ union Usdaw called his behaviour “unacceptab­le”.
