Sir Michael Caine and Dame Joan Collins WILD BOY Nick Rhodes & partner Nefer Suzanne Accosta, husband Bill Wyman and Shakira Caine THEY are two pop megastars who have had a (mostly) friendly rivalry for more than 50 years.

And the competition between Sir Rod Stewart and Sir Elton John shows no sign of dying down.

Rod has declared he, too, would like a film made about him – just like Elton. Rocketman, starring Taron Egerton, was released in cinemas this week. And speaking at London nightclub Tramp’s 50th anniversary party Rod, 74, said: “I haven’t seen the Elton John biopic, but I’d love one of me.”

He was at the bash with wife Penny Lancaster, 48, and stars including Dame Joan Collins, Sir Michael Caine, Bill Wyman and Nick Rhodes.

Last year, Rod took a swipe at Elton’s retirement tour, saying it was “dishonest” and “stinks of selling tickets”. He also said he was “winning” when it came to their recent albums’ chart performances. Rod’s Another Country easily beat 72-year-old’s Elton’s Wonderful Crazy Night, selling around three times as many. Rod said: “We have been in contact with each other a lot lately, bitching everybody out. We are still competitive. We text back and forth… how many albums I’ve sold and how many he’s sold. I’m winning.” The Maggie May singer has also taken pops at Elton for his receding hairline. On his own locks, Rod said: “I’ve still got it, unlike a couple of my mates in the business. I’m not going to mention any names.” Asked about Elton, he said: “It’s sewn on.” The Celtic supporter then revealed he bought his rival a full-size sit-under hairdryer for his 50th birthday in 1997, with a message saying: “The only thing I forgot to buy was the hair to go with it.” SIR ROD STEWART ON HIS MUSICAL RIVALRY WITH SIR ELTON JOHN
