Take my advice and do nothing. The decking would have been pressure treated with wood preservatives before it left the factory. Just wash it down every couple of months with warm soapy water and a stiff bristle brush – you’ll be fine.
QWe have painted our kitchen wall and, after it’s dried out, we have what looks like water running down some areas. What can we do? Glenn Lewis, by email
Try a stain block like Zinsser B-I-N aerosol on the affected area and recoat it. It costs about £10 a can.
