Court hands her suspended sentence

A BRITISH woman has avoided jail after ploughing her car into her exhusband’s new lover in Majorca.

Kemi Coaker, 30, received a two-year suspended sentence for mowing down Meghan Tattersall, 25, in a hit and run.

Ms Coaker admitted running Ms Tattersall over, pleading guilty to wounding with a dangerous weapon.

She was initially arrested on suspicion of trying to kill the bar worker, who had been dating Andrew Coaker, 41, for about three months. The

Coakers had split the previous year.

Ms Coaker told police she had been taunted by the victim and that she planned only to frighten her.

Passers-by said

Ms Coaker’s car drove on to the pavement then hit PAIR Mr Coaker and Ms Tattersall Ms Tattersall before speeding off from the scene in Magaluf last May.

The victim screamed in agony and was taken to hospital. She needed surgery for leg injuries.

Police said: “One of the witnesses said the car had mounted the pavement intent on running over the woman.” At a court yesterday in the capital Palma, Ms Coaker, from Manchester, was also handed a three-year restraining order. It stops her going within 500 metres of her victim, who is from Leeds but had been living on the Spanish island since 2014.

Officers tracked down the car in the nearby resort of Cala Vinyes around 30 minutes after the hit and run. A second woman who was in the Fiat Panda at the time did not face legal action. BRITAIN’S oldest female town crier has died at 86.

Yvonne Chamberlain got the job in her hometown of Axbridge, Somerset, after developing a loud voice speaking to her deaf mother.

Niece Nicole Dommett said Yvonne was “such a happy and helpful person”.
