BRITS are set to go on a beer and barbecue spending frenzy to celebrate one of the UK’s biggest ever sporting weekends.

Pubs expect to sell around two million extra pints during Saturday’s Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool.

Tens of thousands of fans have defied sky-high travel costs and a lack of tickets to make the trip to Madrid for the match.

But those not going, as well as millions of neutrals, will stock up on beer, snacks and barbecue food to watch at home on one of the hottest days of the year so far.

And bookmakers hope to take £100million of bets as punters lap up the action, topped off by heavyweigh­t boxing king Anthony Joshua’s fight with Andy Ruiz Jr in New York.
