CALLUM SMITH claims he can beat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and avenge his brother Liam’s loss to the Mexican star.

Canelo beat Liam in September 2016 to claim his WBO light-middleweight title, but Callum insists he would defeat him if he stepped up to superJAMES ‘BUSTER’ DOUGLAS was a huge 42-1 outsider when he challenged Mike Tyson for the WBC, WBA and IBF titles. Tyson had destroyed everyone in his path to amass a perfect 37-0 record and was expected to beat Douglas easily. Tyson partied instead of training and Douglas sensationally knocked him out in the 10th round.

THE original Cinderella Man stunned the boxing world when he beat Max Baer in 1935. Braddock had quit boxing before returning to the ring and earning a shot at Baer in the old Madison Square Garden Bowl. Braddock was seen as well past it and Baer fatally underestimated him. Braddock made him pay as he produced the performance of his life to win the world heavyweight title by a unanimous decision. LENNOX LEWIS was priced at 1-20 to beat Hasim Rahman and defend his WBC and IBF heavyweight titles. Lewis took his eye off the ball and filmed a cameo part on the movie Ocean’s Eleven before the fight. Rahman knocked him out in the fifth round with a right hand which caught him flush on the chin. Lewis got his revenge in a rematch later that year. “I want the big fights, I want the big names, fights that will motivate me,” said the Scouser. “Canelo Alvarez is a very good fighter. I believe he’s the best 160lb fighter in the world.

‘‘I don’t think there’s a fighter at 160 who can beat him. If he does decide to MANY feared for Ali’s safety against the heavy-handed Foreman, who had beaten everyone in front of him to claim the WBC and WBA crowns. He was also seven years younger than Ali, who was seen as past his best. But Ali famously tired out Foreman with his ‘rope-adope’ tactics before knocking him out in the eighth to become world heavyweight champion again at 32. CORRIE SANDERS was not expected to pose much threat to the reigning WBO heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko and the giant Ukrainian had won his last 16 fights. But the South African destroyed Klitschko with his left hand, putting him down twice in the first round and twice again in the second. The pro-Klitschko crowd in Hannover were stunned when the referee waved it off in the second round after the fourth stoppage. move up in the near future, I would welcome that because I believe I could beat him.

“It’s a fight I believe I can win because I believe I am the best 168 fighter on the planet.

“It’s a fight I’m confident of winning, whoever moves up or down. But I’m willing to take on all-comers.”
