Lukaku at double to sink Scots

-

ROMELU LUKAKU proved double trouble for Scotland as Belgium made it four wins from four.

The Manchester United striker scored in each half before Kevin De Bruyne wrapped up victory.

Scots boss Steve Clarke was dealt a blow before kick-off when captain Andy Robertson was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

But his side had an early chance when Oli Burke got on the end of Stuart Armstrong’s flick but his low drive flashed just wide.

Belgium’s Premier League class was evident shortly after when Eden Hazard raced through and found Bruyne but David Marshall tipped his sharp shot over.

And Marshall produced his best save of the night, again from De Bruyne, when he curled a shot that was flying in the far corner before the Scottish keeper intervened.

But Belgium went ahead in stoppage time. Thorgan Hazard broke into the box and found his brother, Eden, who crossed for Lukaku to head home.

It was a poor goal to concede but no more than Belgium deserved and De Bruyne picked up where he left off after the break when his stinging free kick was beaten away by the busy Marshall.

And De Bruyne provided the ammunition for Lukaku (above) to score his second 12 minutes into the second half, effectively killing off Scotland’s hopes.

Eden Hazard found De Bruyne in the box, although he was offside as he came back to receive it. De Bruyne then curled a cross for Lukaku to react quicker than Greg Taylor and fire home.

Ryan Fraser forced a great save from Thibaut Courtois, who denied Scott McKenna and then James Forrest on the rebound.

De Bruyne fired home from 20 yards late on.
