Javid riled at No10’s snub over Trump state dinner

- BY BEN GLAZE

SAJID Javid is embroiled in a row with No10 after he was barred from a state banquet for Donald Trump.

The Home Secretary was the only senior Cabinet minister not asked to go.

Mr Javid said his request to No10 for an invite to the event at Buckingham Palace was rejected.

He said he asked why, adding: “I was told ‘normally Home Secretaries aren’t invited’. So I don’t know. I VISIT Mr Trump & Mrs May don’t like it – it’s odd.” Asked if he thought it was due to his Muslim background, he said: “I am not saying that. I really don’t know.”

Former Tory Party chairwoman Baroness Warsi said it is “worrying” if foreign countries tell us “who is and isn’t acceptable based on origins”. Theresa May’s spokesman said it was “categorically untrue” that Mr Javid’s heritage played any part.

No10 added there were limited places, and Home Secretaries aren’t routinely invited to such occasions.

Mr Javid previously savaged Mr Trump for tweeting his support for far-right group Britain First.

KNOWN for spouting off, Donald Trump caused a splash on Twitter yesterday by writing he met the “Prince of Whales”.

The US President made the gaffe after being rapped for saying he may not tell the FBI if another country gave him damaging information about a political rival.

Referring to his recent UK state visit, Trump tweeted: “I talk to ‘foreign governments’ every day.

“I just met the Queen of England, the Prince of Whales, the PM...”

Trump later deleted his tweet, but social media users were quick to share memes of him shaking a blue whale’s fin.

One, Patrick Joyce, wrote: “Prince of Whales. Did Trump do that on porpoise?” SPOUT OF ORDER Trump & prince
