IT’S SWERVE AND VOLLEY

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

NICK KYRGIOS revealed he turned down the chance to play Wimbledon doubles with Andy Murray as he stoked up his rivalry with Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal.

The Aussie and the Scot are good mates – and Kyrgios yesterday called the former world No.1 a “warrior” and a “legend”.

Murray is making his comeback in the doubles with Fel iciano Lopez tomorrow at the Fever-Tree Championships at Queen’s Club in west London and is still looking for a partner for SW19.

But world No.39 Kyrgios s (right) said: “It’s just good to see Andy back but I don’t think I want to carry him for Wimbledon n doubles. He can find someone else to do that for him.

“When I hit with him in Wimbledon a couple weeks ago, we spoke about it.

“But it’s best of five sets, which is tough. If I happen to go deep there, it’s too tough to play doubles as well.”

Kyrgios has branded Djokovic’s celebrations as “cringeworthy” and said he had a “sick obsession with wanting to be liked”.

He also insisted Nadal is a “super salty” bad loser and that Nadal’s uncle Toni was an “idiot”.

And the 24-year-old said:

“If I play p Novak at Wimbledon he’d be determined to get just one win against me and I have played Rafa a bunch of times.

“We have beaten each other as well. They are motivated to beat me and my opinions won’t change.”

British No. 2 Cameron Norrie lost 4- 6 7- 6 6- 4 to Kevin Anderson at Queen’s.

And qualifier James Ward went down 3- 6 6- 3 7- 6 to Gilles Simon.

British No.1 Johanna Konta beat Anett Kontaveit 6-4 6-2 at the Nature Valley Classic in Birmingham.

Venus Williams and young B Brit Harriet Dart ( left) lost 4 4- 6 7- 6 10- 7 to Nadiia K Kichenok and Abigail Spears. Dart, 22, said: “It was an amazing experience and something that I’ll cherish f for the rest of my life.”
