HAALAND’S A REAL SON OF A GUN..
TEENAGE Norway sensation Erling Braut Haaland marked his Champions League debut with a hat-trick before half-time as Red Bull Salzberg crushed Genk 6-2 in Liverpool’s group.
The Yorkshire-born son of former Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Manchester City star Alf-Inge Haaland needed just two minutes to open his account.
And he brought his goal tally for the season to 17 by bagging two more to complete a fourth treble in 2019-20.
Haaland, 19, who played for Molde under current Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also scored nine in May when Norway thrashed Honduras 12-0 in the U-20 World Cup finals. Germany’s 23-year-old striker Timo Werner (above) pounced twice in the second half as RB Leipzig won 2-1 at Benfica.
England winger Jadon Sancho won a penalty for Borussia Dortmund – but keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved from Marco Reus to earn Barcelona a 0-0 draw.
Ajax beat Lille 3-0 in Chelsea’s group while Nicolo Barella’s late leveller for Inter Milan denied Slavia Prague a first Champions League victory since 2007. Former Old Trafford winger Memphis Depay’s penalty gave Lyon a 1-1 home draw with Zenit St Petersburg. mirror.co.uk/sport/football Great double save early on and from a Mertens worldie after the break ALEXANDER-ARNOLD Showed great pace and energy in covering his centre-halves brilliantly MATIP
