Dave Gorman: Terms And Conditions Apply Dave ★★★★

- IAN HYLAND on last night’s telly

Over on Dave last night, Richard Osman explained why he always turns down Strictly Come Dancing: “I don’t have time to do all the training AND have the affair.”

It might also have something to do with the fact Osman is 6ft 7in tall.

As David James and James

Cracknell proved once again this year, lofty male celebs don’t do well in that ballroom. Osman mentioning an affair got me thinking though. It’s almost Halloween Week on Strictly and we haven’t had a whiff of scandal yet. Talk about letting the side down.

Osman was appearing on Dave Gorman’s wry new panel show, which combines Gorman’s fondness for wasting time on the internet with his passion for daytime and late night TV.

I very much enjoyed Gorman drawing attention to one of my own daytime guilty pleasures, BBC1’s upcycling show Money For Nothing.

Gorman challenging the panel to guess whether the upcyclers would make yet another lamp was pure TV Burp.

My favourite round, FAQs, felt like it could have been from Mock The Week.

Gorman asked his guests to guess what customer enquiry had sparked a particular answer in the Frequently Asked Questions section of a company’s website.

US comedian Sara Barron came up with the funniest suggestion. Attempting to guess what had prompted the answer, “Yes, that’s one of the beauties of laminating!” on the Scotch sticky tape website, Sara quipped, “Is Simon Cowell’s face going to look like that for ever?”

Harsh. But, on recent evidence, also fair.
