Royals’ candid film was an eye-opener

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

■ I find it unbelievable Harry & Meghan: An African Journey was filmed in places where local people have suffered greatly and yet there was Meghan, a woman of nearly 40, complaining that she was being criticised and that nobody had asked her how she was doing.

Such self-absorption is, frankly, mind-boggling. She needs better advisers and a reality check. Here is some advice for her and Harry – stop pontificating on your website about what people should do about climate challenges if you aren’t prepared to do it yourselves and look at how other members of the Royal Family conduct themselves, and take your cue from them.

If you want privacy then give it all up, earn a living and pay for yourselves, otherwise understand that scrutiny of the Royal Family is what we do here in the UK when we are paying them to do a job.

■ I made a point of watching ITV’s Harry & Meghan: An African Journey as it seems public opinion has not been kind to them of late and so I wanted to see them both laid bare.

My opinion has certainly changed seeing them talk so openly about their individual struggles to Tom Bradby. Harry spoke about his alleged rift with brother William and his mental health problems, while Meghan showed vulnerability on becoming a new mother and revealed no one has really asked if she’s OK, which is sad. This programme showed royals are human too and that they don’t all take the stiff upper lip approach. Marie Gosney, Billingham, Teesside

■ It’s clear Harry and Megan haven’t come to terms with their roles in public life. They should appreciate they are going to be exposed to the media while fulfilling their duties.

Rumour has it they may moved abroad to escape attention. If this happens, they should consider refunding the taxpayer for the millions spent renovating their Frogmore Cottage residence in Windsor Great Park.

■ Harry and Meghan: An African Journey was so insightful as to how the pressures of royal life have taken their toll on the Duchess of Sussex.

Harry and Meghan are such a breath of fresh air and should be supported and nurtured.

I hope they realise how much support they have from people in Britain and across the world. Diane Silva, Bournemouth

■ What a contrast reading about the two royal princes recently. William and Kate go about their royal duties in such a happy and relaxed manner.

By contrast all we hear from Harry and Meghan is how they are suffering with all the public scrutiny.

Also, I am sure Diana would have been distressed at the rift between her two sons. The ITV show was just a publicity stunt.

■ I really enjoyed watching the programme about Harry and Meghan on Sunday night. It was also wonderful to see Harry following in his mother’s footsteps after 22 years campaigning against landmines in Africa.

I just wish people would leave them alone.
