Victory for zany 60s band in legal battle to use full name

A JEWISH religious artefact once owned by Marilyn Monroe could sell for £115,000 at auction.

The menorah, a sevenbranc­hed candlestic­k, was given to her by her in-laws.

She became Jewish to marry playwright Arthur Miller in 1956.

Kestenbaum and Company will auction it in New York on November 7.

They said: “Marilyn Monroe’s spellbindi­ng magnetism knows no bounds. We anticipate substantia­l interest.”

SIXTIES pop stars The Bonzo Dog Band have won a legal ding-dong to put the Doo Dah back into their name.

They split up after their 1968 hit I’m The Urban Spaceman only to re-form several times.

But after they reunited in 2005 they discovered someone had trademarke­d their name.

The IPO said Anglo Atlantic Media, where their ex-promoter Bob Carruthers is a director, had no right to the trademark.

Zany London art students Roger Spear, Neil Innes, Larry Smith, Rodney Slater, Vernon Nowell and the late Martin Ash hit the big time after teaming up with Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Idle on the ITV comedy show Do Not Adjust Your Set.

Many celebs have guested for the band and some of them, including Stephen Fry and Ade Edmondson, gave evidence in support of their case. Mr Carruthers said at the High Court: “We will definitely be appealing.”
