FRONT THREE A SHEAR DELIGHT

-

AARON CRESSWELL admits West Ham are looking nervously over their shoulders and deserved to be booed as they left the pitch at half-time against Newcastle.

The Hammers climbed to fifth with a 2-0 home win against Manchester United on September 22.

Four defeats and two draws later in all competitions, they are in the bottom half of the table and in freefall.

“Was the booing of the fans justified at half time? Yeah – there is no beating around the bush,” said Cresswell.

“From our point-of-view was not good enough today.

“It was obviously a really frustrating start. To be 3-0 down at home against Newcastle, with all due respect, it

CLUB legend Alan Shearer sang the praises of the Newcastle front three on an afternoon when the goals came from two centre-backs and a midfielder.

“A concern has been a lack of creativity and a lack of link-up play between those three, but they got the balance in terms of attacking play absolutely perfect,” the Match of the Day the break.

Jonjo Shelvey added another f o r t h e v i s i t o r s w i t h a pundit said. But he admitted, “being critical Allan SaintMaximim has to score” and “should have put it into the back of the net the first time, and the second time, as should Miguel Almiron”.

West Ham’s move to their new home was meant a herald an era of regularly challenging for European football.

Their capitulation against a side that had scored just six goals in the Premier League prior to Saturday’s win paints a very different picture for them.

“We are not in a panic situation but considering the start we had to the season, it is frustrating that we have not kicked on and really had a right go,” said Cresswell (left).

“We are going through a tough period at the moment but hopefully we will come out of it soon.

“There are still 27 games or so to go and anything can happen during those 27 games.

“As I say, we certainly want to get back in that top half, kick on and see where that takes us.

“We are back on Monday now and we have got to work hard, review the game, see what went wrong and work on it through the week and look forward to Burnley.”

Fernandez and Jonjo Shelvey (left) were also him target, said the players are not worried about who scores.

“We wanted to come down and get the three points and we don’t care where the goals are coming from as long as we’re getting them,” he said. “We had a number of opportunities there and anyone can score them.”
