Mum, dad & 5 sisters work for service

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

A FAMILY has been nicknamed the “NH-US” with seven members working within the service and 14 children all born at the hospital where their grandparents trained. Dougie, six, and Esmee, five. She said: “The hospital has been quite central to all our lives. We’ve seen it grow.

“All of us are so close, so as soon as one of our sisters has had a baby, the whole family goes in to visit. I’m sure there are nurses who’ve thought, ‘Not again’ when they see one of the Chedzoy siblings is about to have a baby,” she said.

Three of Kate’s siblings also work at the hospital. Hannah, 36, and Hayley 33, are healthcare assistants at Pyrland, a mental health ward for the elderly run by Somerset NHS Partnership, which has merged with Musgrove Park.

Hannah is mum to Joshua ChedzoyWilkins, 15, and Poppy Chedzoy-Wilkins, 12. Hayley’s children are Kameron Roulston, 12, Freddie Chedzoy-Rice, five, and Beatrix Chedzoy-Rice, two.

Emilie is mum to Hildi ChedzoyNewton, two, and Gigi Chedzoy-Newton, one. Sister, Jade Cowley, 29, works as a healthcare assistant at the hospital.

She has four children, Tallulah Cowley, nine, Franklin Cowley, six, Lincoln Cowley, four, and Zachary Cowley, two.

Kate recalled when two nieces and one nephew were born over Christmas.

“Just by chance I saw Beatrix and Zachary being born. Then when Hildi was born a couple of weeks later, I saw her just after her birth too,” Kate said.

Jacqui said it was “special” her grandchildren had been born at the hospital.

Alan said: “I’m proud my daughters all work for the NHS. I’ve been to so many births I’ve started bringing a newspaper.”
