HUDDERSFIELD

SWANSEA

SWANSEA remain unbeaten on the road, but they failed to see off 10-man Huddersfield in a bad-tempered affair.

Australian referee Jarred Gillett dished out five yellows and a straight red for Terriers midfielder Trevoh Chalobah, who headbutted George Byers.

Gillett was probably not expecting some of the challenges to be more like an Aussie rules game.

Swans head coach Steve Cooper had made four changes to his team and one of them put his side ahead. A corner was only half cleared and when Andre Ayew poked it on, Jay Fulton (above) found the roof of the net with a fine finish.

The visitors were unhappy when Fraizer Campbell caught Mike van der Hoorn late, but after a long wait, Campbell was only shown a yellow.

The Terriers were level before the break thanks to Karlan Grant (top).

Alex Pritchard’s shot was touched into Grant’s path by skipper Christopher Schindler and Town’s top scorer did the rest for his 10th goal of the season.

MATCH STATS

LUTON Mpanzu 19, Brown 53 CHARLTON

IZZY BROWN’S first Luton goal lifted the Hatters out of the drop zone as they beat Charlton in the league for the first time since 1993.

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Brown, 22, (below) struck early in the second half to end a run of five defeats for Graeme Jones’ side.

James Collins pinged the bar with Luton’s first shot against visitors missing 12 injured players and naming only six subs.

Charlton took a seventh-minute lead when Jonathan Leko slotted past Hatters keeper James Shea for his third goal in as many games.

But Luton were level 12 minutes later after Charlton’s failure to clear a corner allowed Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu to lash home.

And a moment of Brown brilliance gave Luton a 53rd-minute lead, juggling Andrew Shinnie’s ball into the box and then poking home.

Shinnie almost made it 3-1 but his long-range curler smacked an upright, while Charlton’s Conor Gallagher, also on loan from Chelsea, was denied a late equaliser by a post.
