Champions League: Group A

ZINEDINE ZIDANE was left fuming after seeing his Galacticos squander a 2-0 lead to let PSG fight back late on to earn a point.

Karim Benzema appeared to have left Zidane’s side in control with a goal in each half.

But two minutes after Benzema’s 79th-minute strike, Kylian Mbappe pulled one back before Pablo Sarabia (above) levelled on 83 minutes.

Gareth Bale appeared in the 68th minute as a substitute for the injured Eden Hazard – and hit the post with a last-minute free-kick.

Benzema had fired Zidane’s side ahead in the 17th minute when he blasted home after Isco’s shot came back off the post, but the home side were handed a major let-off when VAR intervened to overturn Thibaut Courtois’ red card.

The keeper was dismissed when he brought down Mauro

Icardi inside the box. But the referee decided there had been a foul earlier in the move when he consulted his pitchside monitor.

Real paid the price for failing to make more of a succession of chances, with PSG keeper Keylor Navas making a succession of fine saves. Benzema made it two with a header 11 minutes from time.

But nerves gripped the home side when Mbappe struck from close range.

And PSG’s comeback was complete when Sarabia blasted a rising drive past Courtois.

In the other game in the group, Krepin Diatta scored a stoppage-time equaliser as Club Brugge drew 1-1 at Galatasaray.

But the ensuing celebrations ended with the Belgian side being reduced to nine men.

Diatta collected a second yellow card for taking his shirt off following the goal, while Clinton Mata got his marching orders after kicking the corner flag.
