GOCOMPARE is today panned as the worst travel comparison website in a poll of holidaymak­ers.

The survey of more than 2,200 travellers by Which? crowned Skyscanner as the best, judged on categories including price, userfriend­liness and market coverage.

GoCompare users slammed the site for high prices, bad functional­ity, poor market coverage and for not showing quotes from all major booking sites. It scored 45% overall, with 69% for Skyscanner, which was also the only site to get four stars for value. TripAdviso­r came second overall and was top for

However, earlier this year Which? Travel warned tourists to take hotel reviews with a pinch of salt after finding evidence of suspicious online write-ups.

In a separate snapshot investigat­ion, Which? Travel rated the seven most used flight comparison sites.

Skyscanner did well again, finding the cheapest price six out of 10 times.

Google Flights found cheapest fare just once.

For a last-minute return flight to Krakow, voted Which? Travel’s best city break destinatio­n, Skyscanner was at least £60 cheaper than any competitor.
