MARCO DERBY DAY DOUBTS

- BY IAN BAKER

EVERTON boss Marco Silva admitted not knowing if he will still be in charge for Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby.

Another defeat increased the pressure on the Portuguese coach despite a battling performance from his men. But it may not be enough to keep Silva in the Goodison hot seat.

Asked if he will still be there against Liverpool, Silva said: “I’m not the person to speak about that. But I know what I am doing. I know my job. I have the players’ backing.

“No one can say anything about the attitude of my players. They showed a reaction.

“It was a very harsh result, we deserved more.

“For the first 65 minutes we were the best team on the pitch.”

If still Everton’s boss at Anfield, Silva has work to do to pick his players up after Leicester’s lastgasp winner dampened all the optimism created by the opening goal from Richarlison (top).

“We need to stay calm,” added Silva. “It’s going to be a tough match, but also a special match for the fans and the city. You never know what can happen in a derby.” His opposite number yesterday, Brendan Rodgers, has ruled out replacing Unai Emery at Arsenal.

Asked whether he was Leicester’s man, he said: “Yeah, very much so.

“And it is a huge challenge here to break into the top six. I’ve loved every minute since I’ve come here. We’ve got work to do, but I’m excited. Arsenal probably have a list of 10 names.”

Rodgers is understood to have a £14million release clause in his Leicester contract.

But he said: “There are probably clauses in most managers’ contracts. It’s all hypothetical.”
