BRUISED CHERRIES ARE EDDING INTO A RELEGATION SCRAP

- BY IAN BAKER

JAMES TARKOWSKI says it is fair to describe his side as boring, boring Burnley – and he absolutely loves it.

The Clarets claimed victory at the death in statistically the worst Premier League game of all time.

There were only five shots all match on the wet, wintry south coast and the only one on target was Jay Rodriguez’s 89thminute winner off his shoulder.

Bournemouth fans taunted Burnley followers with “how do you watch this every week?”.

But the jubilant visiting supporters hit back with ironic cries of “anti-football” and “we are embarrassing”. Centre-back

BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe warned his side that they are now genuine relegation contenders.

The Cherries are 14th and four points above the drop zone.

And they have now lost six of their last seven games after being hit by an injury crisis which has seen their list of players in the treatment room hit double figures.

Howe (left) said: “I’ve said before that we’re in a relegation battle.

“I’ve said before every season that we’re in a relegation battle. This one is probably the most real we’ve been in.

“We’ve got a lot of injuries, a lot of hurdles to overcome.

“It’s a damning statistic that we had no shots on target – being at 5 9 9 10 10 home I’m well aware of that after the game.

“I don’t think that’s going to fill us with any type of happiness.

“We have to adapt. You’re constantly learning to find solutions to problems, we have to find a way.”
