Darnell: Baggies will do all we can to stay in front.. not like Leeds last year

-

DARNELL FURLONG promises promotion favourites West Brom will not do a Leeds and collapse. see his lad rescue Albion from a poor first half.

Brentford dominated and should have been well ahead before Henrik Dalsgaard scored in the 43rd minute.

Furlong’s header a minute into the first period’s added-time saved boss Slaven Bilic (below) and his West Brom side and brought them their 21st point from losing positions this season.

It proves West Brom have got bottle and Furlong said: “Leeds were top a year ago and didn’t go up so that is the perfect example for us. We can say, ‘Look what happened last season.’ We’ll do all we can now to keep out in front.”

But, since thrashing Swansea 5-1 earlier this month, the Baggies have been patchy – and they were chasing Brentford all through the first half.

Albion have better

Ref: Darren Bond Att: 24,961 stats though, than the Leeds of 12 months ago. They have lost only once – Leeds had lost three by Christmas – and are 13 unbeaten. Leeds’ best run was eight.

So there’s wriggle room going into Boxing Day’s game at Barnsley – but Dalsgaard has a warning for the Baggies.

Brentford look slick enough to be in the promotion hunt themselves and Dalsgaard said: “We should have had two, three goals in the first half.

“It would have been good to beat West Brom in front of their big crowd and we definitely should have had the three points.

“We must learn to be more clinical with our chances though.”
