WILLIAN: WE DON’T WANT THESE FANS

- BY PAUL BROWN

WILLIAN says football must kick out the racists because the sport is shamed when players like Antonio Rudiger are targeted.

Rudiger complained he was the victim of monkey chants during Chelsea’s 2-0 win at Tottenham, with referee Anthony Taylor forced to stop the game.

Spurs have since launched a full investigation and will ban anyone found guilty of racially abusing the Germany defender.

Willian (above), whose brace won the game, said: “It’s a shame. We have to find the solution to stop these kinds of things.

“Does more need to be done? I think so. The people that did this to Toni have to stop coming to the stadium – in every stadium. We have to find a solution to stop it.

“When we are on the pitch, we have to stay focused and leave the decision to the referee.

“And we did it. Toni just reports the situation to the referee and we continued.” Three announcements were made over the public address system that racist behaviour was “interfering with the game”, but it is understood the abuse did not continue.

Victory meant Chelsea bounced back from the home defeat by Bournemouth in style and Willian now has four league goals to his name this season.

That is more than he managed in all the last one and his latest strikes were all the sweeter coming against his old boss Jose Mourinho in a London derby.

Willian said: “It’s special to score in any game, but in a derby it’s different. I’m happy with the goals and the result. We have to keep the momentum.”

The Brazil star’s future remains in doubt with his contract running out and no sign of any agreement on a new one.

His focus is on making Chelsea more consistent after their patchy home form – starting against Southampton on Boxing Day.

The Blues have lost to Bournemouth and West Ham in their own backyard recently, but Willian thinks they are now starting to show the “personality” boss Frank Lampard demands.

He added: “We have to do exactly the same job we do when we play away. We have to do it at home. We have to win.”
