Caprice’s high jinks

-

FOR many Dancing on Ice stars, their biggest fear will be losing their balance and falling flat on their face.

But for newlywed Caprice Bourret a stumble would be a walk in the park compared to the day she accidentally drugged herself – with Quaaludes.

In a scene that could have come straight from The Wolf of Wall Street, the American model tells how she was caught out when she asked an old boyfriend for some painkillers.

The 48-year-old mum-of-two, who has just wed her millionaire financier partner Ty Comfort, said: “I was dating this guy in LA and woke up one morning with terrible period pain.

“I asked him if he had any painkillers. He told me where the paracetamol was in his bathroom.

“I popped a couple of them and then got ready to go to my spin class.”

Yet soon, it was the room that was spinning – a situation far more terrifying than doing the ITV1 show’s dreaded headbanger.

Caprice, in her book My Body, My Boys, My Business, added: “I sat on the spinning bike and I was spinning and spinning and spinning. All of a sudden, I fell off.

“I was flat out on the floor but my legs carried on spinning and spinning in the air. I was trying to talk but I was just kind of making this weird grunting noise.”

A friend called her boyfriend, saying

“There’s something wrong with your chick. She’s lying there like a loon. Everyone thinks she’s lost it.”

It was then her man realised what had happened. “Oh, s***,” he responded. “I think she must have taken the pills from the aspirin bottle where I keep my Quaaludes.” The drugs are a superpowerful sedative that have been banned in the US after becoming a party pill in the 1970s. Just a few tablets could be lethal. Luckily for Caprice, who made her first appearance on DOI’s Christmas special on Sunday, her friend managed to get her home. One can only imagine the frosty conversation she had with her boyfriend when she sobered up…
