A HIGH-fat diet can supercharge breast cancer growth, scientists warn.

Researchers said malignant cells could suck in fat from the blood and feast on it like a “free lunch”.

It has long been known that obesity raises the risks for breast cancer but the reasons were unclear.

Prof William Kinlaw, of America’s Norris Cotton Cancer Center, in New Hampshire, said: “The uptake of this ‘free lunch’ fat results in a metabolic reprogramming of cells.”

THIS well-heeled couple won’t be worrying about the exchange rate...

Duncan Bannatyne, 70, strolls on the beach in Barbados with his third wife, Nigora Whitehorn, 39.

The former Dragons’ Den star, whose net worth has been estimated at between £175million and £280million, doesn’t need to calculate the value of sterling as the couple soak up the Christmas sunshine in the Caribbean.

It’s just a drop in the ocean to him...

HOLIDAYMAKERS heading for winter sun will find their cash goes up to 11% further, experts found.

Sterling has risen in value against currencies in 10 out of 12 popular destinations compared to the same time last year, Post Office Travel Money said.

Mauritius and Jamaica top the ranking for the biggest currency boosts.

The pound is 11% stronger versus the Mauritian rupee, meaning UK visitors get an extra £59 for every £500 they change. Jamaica-bound tourists are benefiting from an 8.4% increase.

Nick Boden, head of POTM, said:

“Compared with a year ago, UK tourists visiting almost every country worldwide can expect to get more foreign cash for their pounds.”
