vMANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola has won his battle to keep Leroy Sane at the Etihad until the end of this season.

But the Germany forward is still expected to quit the Premier League champions for Bayern Munich next summer in a deal worth around £85million.

Sane has missed the entire season so far with torn knee ligaments suffered during the

FA Community Shield clash with Liverpool in August.

He underwent surgery to repair the damage and is not expected to return to action until March at the earliest.

Sane, 23, is keen to leave City after becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of starts under Guardiola and has set his heart on returning to the Bundesliga with Bayern.

Reports claimed a deal could be done in next month’s transfer window, despite Sane being injured, but Guardiola wants to keep him for the rest of the campaign.

The Germans have been chasing the winger (above) for the past 12 months and were close to signing him last summer before he got injured.

But Bayern bosses have refused to give up their public pursuit of Sane and are confident of landing him before the start of Euro 2020 next June.

Sane joined City from Schalke in 2016 for £37m and signed a five-year deal, but he has become disillusioned with life in Manchester.

He has been restricted to 68 league starts in three seasons with City, but has still managed to score 25 goals to enhance his reputation as one of the brightest talents in Europe.
