NETO’S SET TO HIT THE NET SOON

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

RISING Wolves star Pedro Neto has been told not to allow VAR to scramble his brain.

The teenager has hit the net against Liverpool and Manchester United only to have them controversially ruled out by the video refs.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo says his £16million summer signing from Lazio (above) has every reason to tear his hair out.

He thought he had scored his first-ever Premier League goal in front of the Kop at Anfield only to have it chalked off because Raul Jimenez’s heel was judged offside.

Then in midweek he scored at Old Trafford, but was again disappointed because Jimenez was judged to have handled in the build-up.

Now Nuno wants the Portuguese star to take it out on Southampton today.

Nuno said: “United was his second piece of bad luck. He’s playing really well and improving all the time so hopefully the chances will come and it will be case of third time lucky for him.

“It’s hard on him. He will bounce back. He’s OK. The handball rule is going to be reviewed, that’s for sure.

“Managers, players, fans have all seen it’s not OK. The message is so clear and so loud about the handball rule.”

Neto’s disappointment was echoed by fans and pundits alike as it took place on two of the biggest stages in football.

Nuno added: “The fans are the most important people in all this and they aren’t happy.”

Wolves travel to St Mary’s bidding to end a run of five games without a win, but Nuno insists they are not suffering from fatigue.

Despite clocking up 38 games already due to their Europa League exploits, he added: “We know how to do things. It’s a lot of games, but we always compete and I’m confident we will continue like that.”
