Home smear kits on way
THE Department of Health is working on a DIY smear kit, to allow women to complete cervical cancer tests at home.
In 2018, only 70% of people eligible had cervical cancer smear tests.
The home smear kit was developed by researchers at Queen Mary University of London last year.
Health Minister Jo Churchill said: “No woman should be denied access to vital screening.”
The kits are expected to be available in three years.
