A DAD who had a heart attack and ‘died’ for 35 minutes was saved by his daughter who had just been taught CPR at school.
Kevin Holburn, 60, complained of heartburn as he drove Ali, 15, and son Dan, 13, home from school.
When he stopped at traffic lights he went into cardiac arrest and slumped over the steering wheel.
Ali performed CPR on him in his seat and rang 999. She flagged down another driver who also helped while Dan called their mum.
A passer-by helped remove Mr Holburn from the campervan. They performed CPR on him until ambulances arrived in Poole, Dorset.
Kevin was shocked by a defibrillator until his heart, which stopped for more than 30 minutes, started beating again. He had a stent put in at hospital in and woke from a coma two days later, with no memory of the January 15 incident. He is set to make a full recovery. Ali learned CPR at Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester two weeks earlier.
Docs said had she not done it her father could have died.
Mr Holburn, who runs an electrical engineering firm in Poole, said: “Without Ali and Dan doing what they did, I wouldn’t be here.” Ali said: “It was overwhelming. I tried to keep it all together.”
CPR training will be compulsory in state schools from September.
