IT’S every couch potato’s dream – a 100in, gold plated telly to bingewatch box sets in style.
But the world’s most exclusive television is priced at £108,000 and aimed more at sea-faring millionaires than lowly landlubbers.
The waterproof screen has been designed for yacht decks as the ultimate, outdoor cinema-style viewing experience.
Only available at Harrods in Central London, the DB100 was created by specialist British TV maker Aquavision.
Despite the sixfigure price tag, orders have already been taken from the UK, Middle East and USA as the world’s wealthy elite snap them up for their luxury yachts.
The sleek, 4K LCD set – more than twice the size of the average UK 43in versions – includes a sound system from audio giant Bang & Olufsen.
Aquavision founder and managing director Alastair Benn said: “This is our ultimate luxury television. It is a major statement piece that people with style and wealth can enjoy. We believe it is the
most stunning and unique television ever produced in the world.”
Customers of the company, based in Stockport, Cheshire include celebrities, business leaders and five-star hotels.
Mr Benn added: “There is a growing demand for luxury electronic items from consumers around the world and the TV market is no different.
“Homes today are radically different environments to the homes of the past.
“Advances in technology have revolutionised the nature of what a home is.
“From where we used to simply live, we now live, work, rest and play – and people want to do it in style.”
In 2010 the world’s most expensive telly was on sale at £1.5million. The 55in Prestige HD Supreme Rose telly, made with 28kg of 18-carat rose gold and adorned with 72 round-cut one-carat diamonds, was created by British designer Stuart Hughes.
He also made a “budget” PrestigeHD Supreme set with only 19kg of gold and 48 diamonds – for £1million.
