Evan’s all-action Plan can become a Sandown hero

-

BOLD PLAN is fancied to net rewarding compensation for an early mishap at Ascot last time with a victory in the Betway Heroes Handicap Hurdle (3.00) at Sandown.

A tumble at the third flight put an end to the six-year-old’s participation in a valuable event – for which he went off the 3-1 market leader – on the Clarence House Chase undercard two weeks ago.

But on his previous outing, in another bigmoney handicap hurdle at Haydock Park in November, everything went to plan for the Evan Williams, inset, trainee.

Bold Plan looked to have a fight on his hands running to the final flight, but motored home to beat Whoshotthesheriff by two and a half lengths. This three-mile trip should hold no terrors for the winning point-to-pointer, who still has more to offer.

The Betway Masters Handicap Chase (3.35) is a good opportunity for the Nicky Henderson-saddled

to add to his first chasing success in Britain, gained at Ludlow 24 days ago.

His two-length margin over Another Stowaway gave Daryl Jacob a first winner back from injury, and a 7lb rise in the weights shouldn’t prevent another bold run.

Earlier, representing the same connections as Dragon D’Estruval, is very much the horse to beat in the Listed Betway Contenders Hurdle (1.50).

The ITV cameras go to Musselburgh, where gets the nod for a fifth course-and-distance triumph – he hasn’t won a jumps race anywhere else – in the bet365 Scottish County Hurdle (2.05).

Later, the chance to tackle four miles for the first time bodes well for in the bet365 Edinburgh National Chase (3.15). Wetherby stages the Grade 2 William Hill Towton Novices’ Chase (2.45), in which the preference is for who did plenty right first time over fences at Ffos Las in November.
