THE spotlight has been on Swansea’s young loan stars recently – but big Joe Rodon stepped back into the limelight at Deepdale.

The Wales defender, 22, made his first start since being sidelined for three months with an ankle injury.

And Swans boss Steve Cooper could not contain his admiration for Rodon.

All the more so after he played a key role in his side’s draw at ‘Fortress Deepdale,’ where North End have the best home record in the division. Former Swansea striker Scott Sinclair (above) scored a belter for Preston, his first since signing from Celtic last month.

But it was rubbed out by Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster, who shone alongside two new on-loan Chelsea youngsters Marc Guehi and Conor Gallagher.

But Cooper singled out Rodon, saying: “I’m so proud of him. He’s worked so hard in his time out.

“He’s always first in, last out. He’s only featured in two games since his return, but you wouldn’t know it. I can’t praise him enough.

“He’s very popular too, so coming back has given everyone a boost. But after his efforts at Deepdale, he still came up to me and said he thought he could have done better! That’s Joe.”

Preston’s Alan Browne rued missed chances, one created by him at the death, but admitted: “Swansea are good and up there pushing with us for a top-six place, so it’s not a bad point.” PRESTON:
