Scott: I lost a bit of my reputation and it hurt.. this is my last chance

FORGOTTEN man Scott Hogan is on a mission to revive his career and make it to the top flight.

Three years ago the striker got a career-making £9million move from Brentford to Aston Villa.

But he didn’t shoot Villa to promotion and since then he has dropped off the radar. “I’ve just fallen away,” said Birmingham loan signing Hogan. “I’ve lost my reputation and it hurts.”

Hogan has been loaned out to

Sheffield United, Stoke and now Blues. Even Dean Smith, the manager behind his prolific scoring at Brentford, didn’t take up the challenge of getting the goal machineworking again when they teamed up at Villa.

“It’s probably the last chance for me,” he said. “If I don’t get this right, I’m going to be in the Championship for the rest of my career – and that’s if I’m lucky.

“I’m 27. Hopefully a few goals here might get me to a team fighting to get in the Premier League. I’ve got to aim high.

“I won’t be happy if I finish my career and have never played in the Premier League.”

Hogan’s equaliser, a trademark tap-in, was his first goal since his late winner for Stoke at Swansea back in October. It cancelled out

Tiago Silva’s opener for Forest, and Kristian Pedersen sealed a shock Birmingham win 15 minutes from time.

Forest striker Lewis Grabban then missed three good chances, one of them a penalty.

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi warned: “It’s just not good enough. We handed Birmingham the victory. Keep doing that and we won’t get promotion.” BIRMINGHAM:
