Backlash after pop singer Katy is named Asia envoy
PRINCE Charles is embroiled in a row after Katy Perry was named an ambassador for a British charity for Asia.
Charles unveiled the US singer as an envoy of the British Asian Trust, of which he is royal patron, at an event in London .

“They double down and pick Katy Perry to be the face of their Asian Trust.”
This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh also queried the move. He said: “She is a massive pop star with great influence. Her music is fab. But she’s not British, nor Asian... it just seems like an unusual choice.”

India, said it “has long held a special place in my heart”.
Responding to her appointment, TV presenter Anila Chowdhry said that it is “important to have diversity to reach different communities”.
Musician Nitin Sawhney said that inclusivity among Asians is important. The British Asian Trust’s other ambassadors include journalist Asad Ahmad and TV host Konnie Huq.
